Introduction

Computer Engineering is one of the fastest evolving disciplines in our technological society. The developments in computer engineering have significantly enhanced the standard of our living. The field bridges the gap between computer science and electronic engineering with both software and hardware applications. It emphasizes the design, analysis and implementation of computer systems.

The department of Computer Engineering (CE) is among the newest departments at University of Bahrain. The department offers as undergraduate degree program – Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering.

The Department of Computer Engineering’s faculty and staff are committed to continuous improvement of our program to provide our students with high quality education, as well as personal and professional growth experiences. We strive to prepare our students for employment or advanced studies in computer engineering field through a rigorous and comprehensive curriculum, which is associated with numerous practical laboratory courses, summer training program and a senior project design experience.

We have a team of experienced and well-qualified faculty in our department. Currently, the department is preparing for accreditation by ABET.

Mission

The mission of the Department of Computer Engineering is provide its students with comprehensive education and skills that prepare them to pursue a wide range of computer engineering careers and advanced studies.

Vision

The Department of Computer Engineering’s vision is to be recognized as the leading Computer Engineering Department in the region in teaching and research.

Graduation Requirements

The program is composed of 127 credits which are divided among 8 semesters. The students must achieve a grade point average (GPA) of 2 or more to graduate, both in the major courses (ITCE) and overall. The credit hours consist of university (21 credits), college (32 credits), and department (74 credits) requirements.

مقدمة عن دراسة هندسة الحاسوب:

تعتبر دراسة هندسة الحاسوب من أكثر التخصصات تطوراً إلى تقدم ملحوظ في مستوى ورفاهية حياتنا اليومية. هندسة الحاسوب هي حلقة الوصل بين دراسة علوم الحاسوب من جهة، ودراسة الهندسة الالكترونية من جهة أخرى، فهي تدمج دراسة البرمجيات مع دراسة عتاد ومنظومات الحاسوب وتغطي العديد من المواضيع المتعلقة بتصميم النظم الرقمية وبنية الحاسوب وتصميم الدوائر العالية الكثافة واتصالات البيانات وشبكات الحاسوب وتطبيقاته.

رؤية القسم:

تتمحور رؤية قسم هندسة الحاسوب في أن يكون قسماً رائداً في المنطقة في مجال التدريس والبحث العلمي.

رسالة القسم :

تتناول رسالة قسم هندسة الحاسوب تزويد طلبة القسم بقاعدة علمية متينة ومهارات شاملة تؤهلهم للعمل في مجالات متعددة في تخصص هندسة الحاسوب ولمواصلة دراساتهم العليا.

متطلبات التخرج:

1. أن يكون قد أنهى متطلبات الخطة الأكاديمية بالقسم وهي 127 ساعة معتمدة (8 فصول)، وتتضمن الخطة على متطلبات الجامعة وهي 21 ساعة ومتطلبات الكلية وهي 32 ساعة ومتطلبات القسم وهي 74 ساعة معتمدة.

2. أن لا يقل المعدل العام عن 2، ولا يقل المعدل التخصصي عن 2.
